Argo Floating

Today's recent activity I've done on my reading was a task about how a Argo float cycle works and to talk about what it is .
A Argo float is a special device that measures the temperature and salinity of sea water.  The float is 1.2 meters long, it weighs about 40 kilograms and it's life span is up to five years. The Argo float collects data that is useful  for scientists, Oceanographers, Meteorologists and many others, its a device that is designed to be strong enough to descend to 2,000m below the surface of the sea.

Here is a google drawing I've created on the Argo Float Cycle.

My Sailing Experience -

On the 10th on May, the seniors of our school including myself got the opportunity to go sailing at Okahu Bay. Thanks to our sponsors St Johns Rotary and Yachting New Zealand for giving us this big opportunity.

When we arrived we met our instructors Holly, Robbie and Kim. We were told to find a person to be partner together with, then we all gathered around the sailing boats. The challenge was to assemble our own sails. We were only shown an example of what the boat was to look like.

Quite a while later with some help from our instructors my partner and I ended up finishing. We learnt some important names of parts of the boat.

After that we had a little morning tea break before we headed of to change into our togs, life jacket and swim suit .

Then we slowly headed down to sea with our sail. We were linked up to six boats with ropes and one of our instructors Holly had the front of the rope we did this before we left shore. Holly dragged us all behind her inflatable speed boat. We went quite fast and it was fun. We played games for a while and had the opportunity to sail with no ropes linking us to other boats.

We then had lunch, then we went back to sea and had a challenge to circle around two pink balls at two different places and play ball tiggy which was so fun. We sailed around for a while before we left.

Thank you St Johns Rotary and Yachting New Zealand

Diary Entry

Dear Diary,

The moment I realized why the little boy took my umbrella I knew giving it back to him was the right thing to do... my mum told  me too with her rolling eyes. I wish I could have my umbrella back, but as I walked away in the dusty dark attic I held in my anger. I'm feeling so much regret giving away my yellow umbrella.

When I turned my back with selfishness and anger I saw through the window where the little boy looked happy and cheerful. I tried feeling happy for him but the guilt I had stayed within me, when I was about to leave I saw the little boy run up to me and he hugged me . . . in that moment I felt like my darkness and selfishness had disappeared and left. I now realize I've been awful and manipulative and am now feeling happy and relieved.
